Fillings
A filling is a way to restore a decayed tooth back to its normal shape and function. If you have a tooth that requires a filling, we will first remove the decayed tooth material, then clean the affected area and fill the cleaned-out cavity with a filling material. This filling will help prevent further decay by closing off any cracks or spaces where bacteria might enter.
Procedure: The process of getting a dental filling typically involves the following steps:
Anesthesia: The dentist numbs the affected tooth and the surrounding area to ensure a pain-free procedure.
Removal of Decay: The dentist removes the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth using a drill or laser.
Filling Placement: The chosen filling material is placed in the prepared cavity and shaped to match the natural tooth's contours.
Curing and Polishing: If a composite filling is used, it is hardened with a special light, and the dentist polishes the filling to make it smooth and blend in with the surrounding teeth.
